1. Create an account Before you apply you need to create a CERN Lightweight account. You will later use this account to login for the online application form.
  • Enter a valid email adress here.
  • Verify your email adress by clicking on the activation link that has been sent to your email account.
  • Choose a password for your account.
  • If you need help creating the account, have a look at our manual.
2. Prepare the following files:

1 minute motivation video (video format, max. 50 MB)

Please describe an activity, event, or experience in or out of class that sparked your interest in Physics, Science, Technology, or Engineering.

1 Reference letter from your physics or science teacher written in English or French (pdf)



1 Additional reference letter written in English or French. This reference can be from another teacher, mentor, coach, employer, science club administrator etc. The referee should have known you for at least 1 year.

Both letters should comment on the following:

  • How do you know the applicant?
  • How long have you known the applicant?
  • Is there anything special or outstanding about the applicant that we should know? 
  • Does she or he especially impress you as being extraordinary? 
  • How strong is his or her interest in and motivation for physics and mathematics? 
  • Do you believe this applicant would enjoy the S'Cool LAB Summer CAMP experience at CERN (academic and social)?

Your latest official grade report (pdf)

You don't need to translate the grade report.
3. Fill out the application form: Click on the button on the right, login with your account and complete the application form. You will also be asked to upload additional files (video, reference letters, grade report). You won't be able to save your application, so make sure you prepare all the additional files needed beforehand. Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a copy of the form and a link to your submission.
